Mr. Kenji Tateiwa received a BS and MS in Nuclear Engineering from Kyoto University. He worked from 1996 to 2000 at TEPCO Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Station. TEPCO H/Q Nuclear Engineering Department from 2000-2002 in severe accident analysis, probabilistic risk assessment and next-generation reactor safety design.
In 2004, he received an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business
From 2005 – 2011, he worked at TEPCO H/Q in the International Affairs Dept. and led TEPCO's involvement in the South Texas Project Units 3&4 Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR) new build project in both technical and financial aspects.
From March 2011 to September 2011 with TEPCO H/Q, Fukushima Response International Team; dealt with the Fukushima accident from day one, playing a key role as liaison between nuclear experts from the U.S. and other countries with TEPCO. In September 2011, he became the Manager, Nuclear Power Programs at TEPCO Washington DC Office and leads collaborative efforts with the U.S. nuclear sector on Fukushima response and hosts weekly update teleconference on Fukushima matters.
