Craig Piercy serves as the Washington Representative for the American Nuclear Society. In this role, he helps devise and execute ANS’ federal outreach activities to Capitol Hill, the Executive Branch on behalf of the 11,000 men and women of the American nuclear community.
Craig has over 20 years of experience in public policy, both within government and as an advocate representing corporations, universities, and trade associations. After graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park, Piercy worked on Capitol Hill for 8 years. While there, he served as Chief of Staff for Congressman Joe Knollenberg (R-MI), coordinating the day-to-day operations of his D.C. and district offices and overseeing his work on the House Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee.
While on Knollenberg’s staff, Craig helped kick-start the effort to accelerate cleanup of the Department of Energy’s former nuclear weapons production sites, the fruits of which can be seen in the subsequent closure of the Rocky Flats and Fernald sites; maintain funding for DOE’s nuclear R&D programs, and establish the House Nuclear Issues Working Group.
